Engineering Manager (Construction)

- Lead the Engineering function, including electrical and civil engineering disciplines and estimating support.
- Development of design criteria for Electrical and Foundation Systems associated with renewable generating facilities, including substations and transmission lines.
- Prepare supporting calculations, equipment specifications, engineering reports, diagrams and related data tables; support of equipment procurement, construction and commissioning phases of project.
- Manage engineering contractors assigned to work on the design of renewable energy facilities, including definition of requirements and specifications, review of engineering drawings and RFI management.
- Development of processes and procedures to safely and effectively design Acciona renewable generating facilities for “Best in Class Performance.”
- Manage the relationship and the process of sharing information with Acciona Corporate Engineering Office.
- Lead engineering consulting support to project managers in the preliminary design and engineering of roads, foundations, collection system and substations.
- Lead engineering consulting support to other areas of the organization, including O&M and Power Marketing.
- Identify and develop technology and process improvements to enhance future projects and increase ROI.
- Identify, develop and build relationships with 3rd party service providers.
- Facilitate the weekly and monthly reporting requirements for our internal and external customers, as well as KPI reporting.
- Facilitate development of employees by providing constructive feedback and continuous coaching/mentoring.  Identify further training and education to enhance employee growth and continued job performance improvement.  Maintain required training certifications and proficiencies for self and team.
- Represent Acciona within the industry, including professional presentations to national trade groups, and acting as an advisor to industry boards.  Maintain affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Advanced degree preferred.
- 5 – 10 years’ experience in Design and Engineering of energy or heavy industrial facilities.  A concentration in renewable energy industry is a plus.
- Prior experience managing multiple large utility scale energy projects.
- 5 years’ experience in leadership role.
- Registered Professional Engineer preferred
- Knowledge of medium voltage utility substation equipment and design.
- Knowledge of NEC, NESC, ANSI and other industry applicable standards and codes.
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project and AutoCAD.
- Demonstrated history of engineering innovation.
- Prior experience negotiating 3rd party contracts.
- Demonstrate continuous commitment to safe operations.  Be an active role model and constant resource to the organization.
- Ability to travel 15% – 30% of time to domestic and international locations.
- Possess the ability to analyze complex situations, and determine and implement effective resolutions in a fast paced environment.
- Strengths will include excellent communications, organization, positive leadership, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to successfully interact with key executives, external and internal customers.
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting and contract implementation.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Hold or be able to obtain a passport.
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
