High Voltage Instrumentation & Electrical Technician

- Provide remote support for the O&M Electrical Engineering team and take technical directives from the Manager of Electrical Engineering.
- Perform high voltage, isolation, switching, and manual grounding at voltages up to 345kV as using approved switching orders.
- Support the AENA Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) program by providing both classroom and hands-on instruction to site management, wind technicians, and solar technicians.
- Support the AENA renewable energy fleet in troubleshooting and the repair high voltage collective systems, underground cables, and pad-mount transformer equipment up to 34.5kV.
- Perform preventative maintenance processes, such as Infrared Fault Detection Surveys, Corona
- Surveys, Ultrasonic Surveys, on the AENA renewable energy fleet.
- Lead and support the Wind Turbines Technicians in troubleshooting, calibration, repair, and retrofitting of low to medium voltage electrical components that are a part of the wind turbine and its associated switchgear.
- Troubleshoot automated control systems, including SCADA systems, instrumentation and electrical equipment, plant meteorological stations and associated equipment.
- Be proficient at Root Cause Analyses to accurately determine equipment failure and the reason for failures when they occur.
- Follow safety procedures and safe working practices to maintain a safe working environment.
- Perform quality audits of up tower electrical maintenances and BOP electrical maintenance.
- Assist with maintaining drawings, specifications, test logs, and calibration logs.
- Tutor, instruct, train, and assist other personnel as required.
- Maintain required training certifications and qualifications.
- Perform other duties as directed.

- Requires a high school education or equivalent. Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or equivalent combination of work experience and technical training required.
- Associates from a technical school and/or ISA CCST to level II or higher preferred. Journeyman Electrician or Lineman certification is preferred.
- Must possess a minimum of three years’ experience in the troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of instrumentation, electrical and control systems at a power plant or similar industrial setting.

- Must have a general understanding of electrical power generation and knowledge of high voltage electrical systems including, overhead, underground and substations systems.
