Job Description

Coleman Rail has a long-standing reputation as the leading rail and infrastructure contractor in Australia, providing construction services for major rail and transport infrastructure both in metropolitan and regional areas.  

The role of Project Director (Alliance General Manager) requires not only specific and advanced technical and commercial skills but also an exceptionally high level of emotional intelligence.  As the Project Director you will be responsible for leading and managing both bid and project delivery teams in the range of operations and provide leadership to ensure teams drive the successful execution of forecasts while meeting contract objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review the planning, procurement and delivery strategies to identify additional opportunities for process/system efficiencies and ensure optimal integration of design and construction disciplines is achieved
  • Responsible for leading the interface between a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Accountable to the General Manager and respective Project/Alliance Leadership Team for the delivery of the works and achievement of the project objectives i
  • Development of the project’s delivery strategy, program and occupation regime to facilitate the required scope of construction activities
  • Play an active business development role with clients, and work diligently to strengthen and broaden existing client relationships
  • Review the “Work Packages” verifying that all documentation is fit for purpose and that all planned

Required Skills and Competencies

  • A degree with a major in technical fields and engineering
  • Post graduate education is necessary
  • Experience in Alliance contracting models
  • 15+ years of experience as a Project Director/Construction Manager in the construction engineering industry managing projects with minimum value of $250m
  • Exposure to rail construction and associated civil infrastructure; having been responsible for the bottom line is a requirement
  • Construction Induction Training (CIT/’White Card’, formerly a ‘Red Card’)
  • Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Card
  • Current Driver Licence
