Site Engineer - Roads

ACCIONA Infrastructure Australia is looking for a Site Engineer to be part of a project in Regional NSW.

This role is to coordinate all technical activities for the designated construction work crew on the project under guidance of Senior Project Engineer/Engineering Manager. Conducts, and coordinates assigned engineering work; monitors work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and ACCIONA standards; ensures effective communication and coordination between all disciplines and all other project activities relevant to work crew.

Key Responsibilities:
Quality, Environmental and Safety:
- Ensure all quality and environmental aspects of the project are addressed to maintain effective operation and project delivery.
- Maintain and apply all relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary to support responsible decisions and courses of action for the construction of road infrastructure projects;
- Ensures non-conformances are recorded and corrective actions initiated as soon as practically possible
- Completes all outstanding defects as required by the programme
- Prepares Inspection Test Reports and checklists that accurately reflect contract requirements
- Conducts basic internal audits on project suppliers and subcontractors
- Maintains and applies all relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary to support responsible decisions and courses of action
- Adheres to safety plan for project and communicates it to project team members including suppliers and subcontractors
- Ensures compliance with all relevant HSE policies, procedures and relevant legislative requirements
- Ensures compliance with all relevant Rail Safety legislation and completes a relevant Rail Safety Induction (where required and applicable)
- Complies with safety charter and update when required
- Continually assesses the project for high risk activities and hazards and in conjunction with appropriate personnel recommends measures to control those hazards and associated risks
- Participates in the preparation of Safe Work Method Statements in consultation with the work group carrying the proposed activity
- Ensures the engagement of subcontractors comply with the ACCIONA safety management system and procedures
- Leads by example by meeting your own safety KPIs whilst ensuring project team member(s) and subcontractor supervisor(s) are also meeting their safety KPIs
Planning and Operations:
- Provide support on planning the use of materials, resources, components or systems within the project, and construction practices and problems to ensure project success, value for money and best practice are achieved
- Manage the operational aspects of work crews to ensure the effective and efficient use of systems and processes involved with all phases of the project management model
- Responsible and accountable to ensure that the requirements of the Contract are being satisfied at work crew level
- Coordinate resource allocation with the expectation that you would encourage effective teamwork and foster a positive attitude toward the achievement of organisational objectives
Scheduling and Reporting:
- Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems
- Assist with preparing project status reports and change orders

•  Manage cost control for certain scope of works
•  Identify and forecast risks and opportunities for the relevant scope of works
•  Produce and distribute daily costings and identifies patterns and trends
·    Maintain 2 weeks look ahead
•  Review, recommend subcontractor and supplier progress payments and provides input to
cost recoveries and subcontractor variation claims
•  Complete basic estimating exercises and prepares take offs as requested
•  Collate records of variations and advises on variations where costs are in dispute related to relevant scope of works 
•  Provide feedback on individual subcontractors monthly claims or statements as required
•  Implement and monitors controls for cost recoveries from subcontractors
•  Administer records in the event of a potential insurance claim
·     Process/check daily dockets/financial information, coding and deliver to cost administrator within agreed deadline on a daily basis

- Manage and maintain effective liaison and communication with all levels of project management team on all matters relating to the construction activities
- Manage and maintain effective liaison and communication with road designers, coordinate and review road packages under Engineering/Design Manager surpervision
- Participate in Client/contractor meetings as required and assist in resolving Client/engineering and project management issues

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree (Engineering)
- Relevant Tertiary Education
Minimum Experience:
- Preferable 2 – 3 years’ experience in a road construction/design/engineering environment
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Package
- Intermediate knowledge of Teambinder, Snag Master, AutoCad and InfraWorks
- Current Australian state driver’s license
- Inmediate availability to start in Macksville.
- A Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent Civil Engineering qualification which is accepted by Engineers Australia is a requirement of this position
- Experience in working with remote work site projects
- Experience with Road and Maritime Services projects
- Experience with Road and Maritime Services projects in finishing stage and handover to RMS Client
