Reporting to the Business Development Manager, this multi-faceted role is responsible for internal and external activities for the development of wind energy projects, providing commercial and planning advice to guide the development of projects from feasibility assessment to planning approvals, to the construction and operational phases.
ACCIONA’s Energy division is looking for their next Project Developer to join our multi-disciplinary team based in the Melbourne CBD. The Development team is hub of where our visions come to life and where exciting projects are created. Reporting to the Business Development Manager, this multi-faceted role is responsible for internal and external activities for the development of wind energy projects, providing commercial and planning advice to guide the development of projects from feasibility assessment to planning approvals, to the construction and operational phases.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a Project Management, Planning or Coordination role, understand planning and development application processes and can engage and influence a variety of stakeholders such as local/ state government and landowners. You will be a self-starter with a dedication to seeing projects through to completion.
•Manage projects to budget and agreed timeframes
•Coordinate internal project inputs from Engineering & Construction, Environment & Planning, Finance, Legal and Community Relations
•Manage external consultants to facilitate project development activities
•Engage relevant authorities to progress environmental and planning approvals
•Investigate identified development constraints on prospect sites and projects in feasibility stage
•Manage development issues as they emerge within projects with the appropriate stakeholders
•Prepare project reports on progress, budget, schedule, issues, risk and opportunity
•Develop and maintain trusting and productive project landholder relationships from initiation through to construction handover
•Manage/implement the landholder lease agreement process and address landholder/lease issues in close collaboration with the legal team
•Attend community events and discussions of key development considerations
Required Skills and Competencies
•Tertiary qualifications in Town/ Regional/ Environmental Planning, Commerce, Business Management, Science, Engineering or similar
•Demonstrated ability to negotiate successful project development outcomes with key government and non-government stakeholders
•Ability to develop clear and concise development plans and presentations covering project status, timeline, risk assessment, and budget needs and performance
•Demonstrated commercial acumen and strategic thinking
•Available to travel regularly to regional and interstate locations as required
•Current Victorian or equivalent Australian State driver’s license
•Previous experience in the wind and solar industry and project development desirable
•Understanding of the grid connection process as it relates to renewable energy developments desirable
