Compliance Operations Manager

Job Description

The Compliance Operations Manager is a newly created role and will play a integral role in ensuring ACCIONA's renewable energy assets are compliant with the National Electricity Rules, (NER) and Generator Performance Standards (GPS).

Based in our Melbourne head office , the role will report to and work closely with the General Manager Operations regarding all site operational requirements. This includes a focus on the safety, security, performance, maintenance, costs, and quality of all ACCIONA's renewable energy operational sites across Australia.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an operations background (electrical/ power systems understanding) to use their compliance and negotiation skills to step up into a senior management role within a matrix environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the NER obligations of GPS and Dispatch for current generation assets.
  • Ensure all NER obligations (GPS and Dispatch) are documented, reported and audited for current generation assets, between international control center, Energy Markets and Generation assets.
  • Support Site Manager and Asset Services to maximize production and revenue from the operational sites 
  • Report on the performance of all Operational sites against KPI’s and objectives
  • Oversee and lead where necessary, contract preparation and negotiation with suppliers and contractors.
  • Lead key initiatives to drive improvements at operational sites.
  • Work closely with the GM Operations on new projects, cost models and negotiations to ensure best outcomes for the business.
  • Ensure that a strong working relationship is maintained with Head office in Australia, Spain and Operational Sites.

    Required Skills and Competencies

    • Qualification in a relevant technical or engineering discipline.
    • Experience in asset management or similar.
    • Generation asset experience (beneficial).
    • Understanding of Australian regulatory reporting and compliance requirements for generators (beneficial).
    • Experience with contract preparation and negotiation.
    • Sound understanding of mechanical and electrical plant, equipment, communications and control systems as related to energy generation assets.
