• Working with the development team to identify the point of interconnection for projects
•Managing the interconnection process for Acciona’s development pipeline
•Leading the negotiation of the Interconnection Agreements with transmission provider
•Working with the project manager to coordinate the construction of the interconnection
•Candidates will need to be able to operate at the strategic level and at the tactical level in driving the negotiations with the transmission provider
•Guarantee an appropriate transition to the Engineering phase, including Interconnection Agreement milestones
Engineering and Construction phases:
• Act as a primary point of contact for transmission service providers, independent system operators and all interconnection activities throughout the engineering and construction process
•Review utility studies (feasibility, impact, and facility) and utility expansion plans to identify potential opportunities.
•Provide assistance during project design and construction for interconnection related issues.
•Conduct transmission/interconnection due diligence to adequately estimate timing and cost impacts
•Provide guidance to the development, engineering, M&A / Finance, Construction, and Operations and Maintenance teams regarding new and existing project opportunities
•Work with Acciona’s business development and environmental teams to identify issues which could affect the selection of the optimal transmission/interconnection solution
•Interface with and manage transmission and interconnection related third-party engineers and other consultants as necessary
•Coordinate with engineering to ensure all studies and simulations meet the requirements for interconnection.
•Ensure engineering of new projects is in compliance with all requirements from the independent system operator, transmission provider and/or local utility.
•Establish with the independent system operator, transmission provider and/or local utility the required tests and documentation that are required prior to interconnect as well as any staged process of interconnection.
•Ensure that all required tests and documentation have been completed at the facility in order to ensure compliance with all requirements from the independent system operator, transmission service provider and/or utility, resulting in a full acceptance of the Power Plant on time (scheduled COD) by all related parties in such a way that no forecasted generation income is lost.
•Coordinate and participate in all required meetings with the independent system operator, transmission service provider and /or local utility to ensure full compliance at the facility.
•Interpret market rules as they apply to the interconnection study, construction and operation of generation projects.
•Participate in various industry groups dealing with interconnection and market issues.
•Represent Acciona within the industry, including professional presentations to national trade groups, and acting as an advisor to industry boards. Maintain affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies.

Collaborate and provide support on projects carried out by his/her business unit/department, in keeping with the instructions given by his/her supervisor, so that his/her work will enhance both decision-making processes and processes involving the project’s execution.
They are responsible for the performance of service contracts. They plan, optimise and supervise the usage of resources to ensure that the services are rendered on time, with the prescribed specifications and cost. Their most common duties include: Managing contracts, drawing up budget estimates, planning and establishing the phases of the service, supervising the activities of the sub-contractors, the subordinate staff and the workers, verifying the quality of the work throughout all phases of the service, etc.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in power systems engineering in a consulting or utility environment
- Minimum of 3 years transmission interconnection experience
- Advanced understanding of utility interconnection studies
- PE preferred
- Experience with PSS/E, PSCAD and ASPEN software
- Excellent communications skills, with the ability to provide training on complex operations
- Ability to communicate detailed information accurately to internal / external customers
- Ability to professionally represent the company when dealing with external organizations.
- Able to work in an indoor or outdoor environment.
